Berlin: 2 City Walking Tours
There are many famous cities around the world, but Berlin has made itself infamous.
From the Prussian Empire to Nazi Germany and the Cold War, the city has always been at the centre of conflict and controversy. It was only as recently as 1989, after the Fall of the Berlin Wall dividing democratic and communist Germany, that the city found peace for the first time in centuries.

Today, Berlin is like an open-air museum of medieval to modern history.
These fascinating walking tours piece together Berlin’s perilous past by guiding you through the Prussian palace, Checkpoint Charlie, the Memorial of the Murdered Jews, and many more infamous places that changed the course of history.

Walking Tour A focuses on finding the most impressive architecture and landmarks from medieval Berlin to the modern day. You’ll start at one of the city’s most beautiful buildings, the Baroque Berlin Cathedral, where many of the Prussian Royal Family are buried, before visiting their former home, Berlin Palace. Passing the Konzerthaus Berlin and the Gendarmenmarkt, a square surrounded by elegant architecture, you’ll reach Museum Island. Here, you can stop for a culture spree at Germany’s top public institutions, including the Bode and Pergamon museums.

Crossing the Rathaus Bridge, you’ll reach Nikolaiviertel, the centre of historic Berlin founded in the Middle Ages.
Along this walk through its charming old streets to reach Nikolaikirche, the oldest surviving building in Berlin, you’ll delve into the city’s origins and learn how it developed through the centuries to become the powerful city it is today. The tour is completed with a visit to Alexanderplatz, a bustling pedestrian square and transport hub marked by its socialist architecture and the soaring Berlin TV Tower to bring you back to the modern day.
The contrast between the two eras will undoubtedly leave you with an unforgettable impression of Berlin’s brilliance.

After discovering Berlin’s architectural and historical highlights on your first walking tour, join Walking Tour B to deep dive into 20th-century Berlin. From the end of the Prussian Empire to the end of Nazi Germany and the end of the Cold War, this tour allows you to relive the city’s pivotal moments in more recent years. It starts at Brandenburg Gate in Pariser Platz, which was once divided by the Berlin Wall. After learning about the demise of a divided Berlin and the destruction of the wall in 1989, you’ll visit the chilling Memorial of the Murdered Jews, Topography of Terror, and Checkpoint Charlie. Passing through Mohrenstrasse, Gendarmenmarkt, and Unter den Linden, the city’s main boulevard for its fill of impressive architecture, you’ll finally reach the Russian Embassy, once the headquarters of the Soviet Union in East Germany. Along the way, expect to be gripped by unbelievable stories about Hitler’s suicide, a nuclear crisis, and the establishment of the ‘Red Telephone’.
